What's Happening

  • Ethiopia hosted its first EdTech Week in June 2025. Themed “Innovate, Scale, and Transform: Unlocking the Future of Learning through EdTech,” the EdTech Week showcased EdTech innovations in Ethiopia. Read more. What's happening in EdTech in your country?
  • In July, Africa Uncensored released an exposé written by Christine Mungai. The two part report, The Teacher and the System investigates two decades of abuse by a teacher at Alliance Girls High School. Have you read it?   • Are you a registered creative hub, organisation, or community committed to driving localised learning and creative engagement in Sub-Saharan Africa? Apply for the So Creative eLearning Micro Grants (£1000) by the British Council. Deadline: October 10, 2025.
  • Apply for the 2025 Call for Proposals for the Learning Variability Network Exchange (LEVANTE). LEVANTE is JACOBS Foundation global research initiative focused on understanding learning variability in children. Applications are welcome from research labs at institutions of higher education or research institutes around the world. Projects may be small-scale (up to USD 600,000) or large-scale (up to USD 1,000,000) and should span a minimum of four years. Deadline: August 19, 2025
  • Somasoma AI is looking for talented, passionate educators to create engaging, curriculum-aligned video lessons from PP1 to Junior School. Fill the Teacher Creator Program Application form.
