It feels like January was just the other day, and we’ve woken up to the sunniest September ever! I am loving that the Nairobi cold is now a distant memory. Did you write any goals at the beginning of the year? What are the measurable steps you are taking to achieve that one goal?
This last quarter of 2025 is the time to reflect, review and adjust your goals. Thing is, you have life and that means you’ve got all it takes to work on your dreams, to make connections, to envision a new future, to actualise your current vision, to achieve that which matters most to you, to make changes, and to enjoy life, as it is, now.

Samuel Okoth, is an experienced Educator who facilitated the Western EdTech Summit 2025 Teachers’ Town Hall. He posed the question, “If we want teachers to drive innovation in EdTech, what needs to shift in how we empower and support them?” This sparked conversations around EdTech assumptions and implementation challenges that teachers face in Kenya.
Inspired by the Town Hall discussions, Samuel launched an 8-week Teacher Co-creation Sprint. This virtual sprint has 40 teachers testing the assumptions collected regarding ‘professional development (PD)’. For the last four weeks, teachers have been sharing feedback on what constitutes professional development for them, and why PD is critical for teachers who use education technology in the classroom.
The sprint will culminate at the National EdTech Summit this September where Samuel will present validated assumptions, three tested prototype ideas for scalable professional development innovations, and a teacher-powered EdTech PD solution that's contextual, sustainable, and aligned with system needs.

What's Happening
- The Ministry of Education Kenya Grade 10 Pathways Selection online platform is live. The platform enables Grade 9 students to select their preferred pathways, subject combinations and senior schools in line with Kenya's Competency-Based Education (CBE) framework. Review it here.
- The Learners' EdTech Summit by Mtoto News and other partners brought together children (aged 6 - 17) on 21st and 22nd August 2025 to gain insight into learners’ experience with EdTech in Kenya, and their solutions to their most pressing challenges in education. Watch out for an outcome statement by the learners at a later event.
