What's Happening

The Teachers’ EdTech Summit is back. Metis, EdTech East Africa, and Raspberry Pi Foundation will bring together teachers for a full day learning and co-creation summit on 21st August 2026 at Makini Schools. The summit will equip teachers with learner-centered design skills, and knowledge on how to leverage AI to solve everyday classroom and school challenges. 12 early-stage startups in Kenya have been selected for Cohort 4 of the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship in Kenya. These startups are creating solutions for learners in the following categories: Learners with Disabilities, Refugees & Displaced Persons (RDPs) and Underserved or Rural Communities, Young Girls and Women, Education and Skills Data. The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has partnered with Avalanche to introduce verification of examination results. The platform which hosts results from 1989-2025 is available for Kenyans, and employers to verify academic results thus preventing academic forgery. More details on using the e-certificate system in the KNEC poster below.
