What’s Happening

  • The Ministry of Education Kenya held the Elimu Mashinani forum on 23rd September at Pwani University, Kilifi County to discuss learning challenges in Kilifi. In attendance were Education Cabinet Secretary Hon. Julius Ogamba, Prof. Julius K. Bitok PS, State Department for Basic Education, Dr. Beatrice Muganda Inyangala PS, the State Department for Higher Education and Research, and Dr. Esther Thaara Mworia, PS, State Department for Technical, Vocational Education and Training.
  • The National EdTech Summit 2025 was held at CEMASTEA Africa on 25th and 26th September 2025; a wholesome EdTech experience with stakeholders from Kenya, Africa and the world. Follow thoughts and learnings shared by participants using #NationalEdTechSummit2025 on LinkedIn.


  • Mr. John Tingoi, a fourth-year student in the Department of Computer Science at Chuka University, won the Second Runner-Up position at the WorldQuant International Quant Championship held in Singapore in September. Congratulations! Read more here and about the World Quant.
  • Mumbe Mwangangi, Founder of Nyansapo AI, is headed to the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE). Nyansapo AI works to double reading and Math outcomes for African children through AI-powered assessments. Mumbe is the African Cohort changemaker for the WISE Edtech Accelerator; a catalyst for innovation in education. Read more here. Hongera sana Mumbi!
  • Register for the Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Future of TVETs Conference happening on 17th October 2025|Nakuru Kenya, a groundbreaking event dedicated to exploring the transformative role of AI in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions across Kenya. Chief Guest Speaker: Dr. Esther THaara Muoria, PS, State Department for TVET, Kenya.
  • UON to host the Research and Innovation week on 21-24 October, 2025. The theme for this year is "Advancing Research and Innovation from Discovery to Impact in a Dynamic Global Landscape”. Find out more.

Apply for the next cohort of 10 amazing School Entrepreneurs to join Duara School 2025 Incubator. By joining the Incubator, you (a teacher) will be equipped with training, resources, access to funding and support, as well as mentorship and sisterhood. It is interesting that the literal translation of habari is news and I am in a space where news is distressing and I’d like to stay in a cocoon of no news.
